"The trees were planted in tracts. There were approximately 10 acres
of apples, then 10 acres of pears, followed by another tract of apples.
Lloyd Counts remembers that his grandfather Martin Foster hauled the
small seedling trees into the orchard by horse and wagon, and Anna
Davis McAllister remembers that her father James Chapman helped to
plant those trees."
